COLEMAN — Charlie Howard Edington, 88, of Burkett, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, at Holiday Hill Nursing Home. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kermit Sorrells officiating and assisted by the Rev. Dianne Cree. Burial will follow in the Burkett Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Charlie Howard Edington was born July 27, 1919, in Brown County, Texas, a son of the late Luke Vaughn Edington and Rosie Lee Slate Edington. He grew up in Brown County, attended school at Kidd Peak and graduated from Cross Cut. On July 16, 1938, he married Juanita Gail Chambers in Brownwood. Mr. Edington ranched for 60 years in Coleman and Brown counties. For many years he was a member of Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Coleman.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Edington of Burkett; one daughter and son-in-law, Valeta and Jimmy Brown of Cross Plains; four grandchildren, Chris Brown and wife Tiffany of Denton, Jody Brown of Cleburne, Howard Edington and wife Debbie of Burkett, Toni Hart and husband Truet of Eastland; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Lela Murriel Lawlis of Coleman.
He was preceded in death by one brother and five sisters; his son, Scott Howard Edington in 2005.
Memorials may be made to any local volunteer fire department.
Family visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
