COMANCHE – Funeral services for Duncan E. Kirk, 93, of Comanche will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Van Christian officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Comanche County. Lunch will be at First Baptist Church of Comanche following the funeral. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He died Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at his home.
He was born July, 19, 1916, in Theo, Ark., to Henry Jeff Kirk and Beulah Buchanan Kirk. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II.
He was married to Frances Bowman on May 20, 1944, in Wilton, Ark. She preceded him in death. On June 20, 1982, he was married to Flora Jane Kerley in Albuquerque. He was a house builder in Albuquerque, N.M. In 1958 he began working for the Civil Service at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque. He retired in November 1982. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Comanche.
Survivors include his wife, Flora Jane Rex Kirk of Comanche; daughter, Deborah Tarple of Littleton, Colo.; son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Jan Kirk of Willow Springs, Miss.; stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law, Kenneth Jack and Sara Rex of Comanche, Tom and Lynda Rex of Irving and Frank and Leslie Rex of Richardson; stepdaughter and step-son-in-law, Brenda and Larry Hatler of White Rock, N.M.; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Arona Kirk of New Braunfels; sister, Evelyn Martindale of Prescott, Ark.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
