Herbert E. Anderson Jr. went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 3, 2010.

    Herb was born in Mishawaka, Ind., on April 22, 1936, to Herbert E. Anderson Sr. and Bertha Greene Anderson. He was married to Yvonne Hayes Anderson on June 22, 1957, in Warsaw, Ind. He served in the U.S. Navy and taught music in their school in Washington, D.C., until his orders to serve in the Cinpac Fleet Band in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. After his discharge in 1959, he immediately moved to Sutherlin, Iowa, taking a position as professor of Communicative Arts Division Head of the Music department at Vennard College. Later he was asked to develop a program for a two-year state accredited course listing for a community college in Roseburg, Ore. He then returned to Vennard for five more years. In 1986 he was called to take the position of music minister for EMC church in Duncanville, Texas. He was ordained for the ministry in 1993. He was pastor of several churches before retiring in 2001 due to illness.

    He is survived by his wife, Yvonne, of 52 years; his children, Herb Anderson III and wife Valerie of Anderson, Ind., Jon Anderson and wife Lorna of Tillamook, Ore., Lori Keller and husband Russell of Bangs, Texas, Matthew Anderson and wife Amanda of Omaha, Neb., and Jeremy Anderson and wife Jennifer of Bend, Ore.; his two sisters, Jeanette Felabom of Tucson, Ariz., Marilyn Campbell and husband Fred of Broken Arrow, Okla.; his grandchildren, Kristen, Traci and Nick Anderson, Stacy and Michael Anderson, Adam, Aaron and Allie Keller, Hayes and Marylin Anderson, Jacob Peller, Tanner and Wyatt Anderson; and a great-grandchild, Ashlynn Anderson.

    A memorial service for Herb Anderson will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 17, at the First Baptist Church in Bangs, Texas, officiated by the Rev. Ken Swearingen from Greenwood, Ark.

    Friends have set up a memorial fund in memory of Herb Anderson to be made to the TexasBank.
