Janie Shafer, 73, of Brownwood, passed away Sept. 13, 2007, at Abilene Regional Medical Center. A resident of Brownwood since 1994, she was an entrepreneur in the farm and ranch supply business. She was also a member of the Brownwood Lions Club, and a member of the Lometa Church of Christ. She was born on Jan. 31, 1934, to George and Nellie DuBose in Colorado City, Texas.
She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Ward of Brownwood and Linda Lauder and Colin of Burleson; a son, James Wilson; five grandchildren, Felicia Evetts, Randy Ward, Tonja Suko, David Lee Jennings and Teresa Curran; eight great-grandchildren, Donnie Evetts, Kevin Evetts, Colt Evetts, Chastin Ward, Summer Ward, Landon Suko, John Curran and Micheal Curran; and was expecting her first great-great-granddaughter, Emily Jane Evetts; three brothers, Ronnie Lemons, Donnie Lemons and Jackie Lemons; and two sisters, Erma McCarty and Dorsey Jett. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Georgia Diane Wilson; and a brother, Bill DuBose.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, in the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel, with interment to follow in the Cedar Point Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
