COMANCHE — Kenneth Gibson, 75, of Sidney, died Wednesday evening at the Comanche County Medical Center.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the First Baptist Church of Comanche with burial to follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Comanche.

Visitation was held from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

He was born Aug. 1, 1932, in Sequin, Texas, the son of Daniel and Marian Engel Gibson. He served in the U.S. Army and attended Texas A&M University, where he was a member of the band. He married Linda Sue Wilkinson in Mesquite, Texas, on Jan. 16, 1955. He taught at Tarleton State University, May High School and Rising Star schools. He formerly worked for the 3M Company in Brownwood and had also worked as an engineer. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the NRA, Mensa, and was active with the Boy Scouts, where he was a former scoutmaster and an Eagle Scout. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Comanche.

He is survived by his wife, Sue; two sons, Kenneth “Keg” Gibson II and wife, Shelley, of Sidney and Clay Gibson and wife, Susie, of San Angelo; two daughters, Wendi Nikolavk and husband, Mike, of San Angelo and Leigh Deigh Rall and husband, Les, of Comanche; eight grandchildren, Trey, Jenna, and Willie Gibson, Caylee and John Arley Gibson and Dustin, Tyler and Tanner Hicks; one great-granddaughter, Anna Grace Gibson; two brothers, his twin brother, Dan Gibson of Granbury and Bob Gibson of Rockwall.
