COLEMAN - Funeral service for Johnny E. Baugh, 71, of Coleman, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, at Elm Street Church of Christ with Gerald Stockstill officiating. Burial will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at Hendrick Medical Center.
He was born June 28, 1937, a son of Claude A. and Vergie L. Dillard Baugh. In 1958 he was married to Melba Meador in Coleman. He served 28 years in the National Guard and United States Army Reserve, retiring as a Captain. He worked as the Utility Office Manager for the City of Coleman for many years and was active in the community as a Volunteer Fire Fighter, a Reserve Police Officer, a member of the Kiwanis Club and served on the Coleman School Board. He was a member of Elm Street Church of Christ where he had served as a deacon and various activities of the church.
Survivors include his wife, Melba Baugh of Coleman; four children, Tim Baugh and wife Dena of Greenwood, Tammy Smith and husband Sherman of Coleman, Terry Baugh and wife Penne of Breckenridge, and Tina Hensley and husband John of Coleman; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Claudette Ross and husband R.Q. of Carlsbad, N.M.; and one brother, Steve Baugh and wife Dale of Abilene.
He was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Randy Smith, Trena Jo Baugh, Allison Ruth Baugh.
