Florence Boatright

Florence (Perkins) (Holland) Boatright passed away on April 21, 2021 in Jacksonville, Florida. Surrounded by family, Florence (Flo) died Saturday at age 97 at her home, Camilla of Deerwood, where she lived for the past 9 years. Florence was born in Regency, TX in 1923 and graduated from Indian Creek High School. She lived in the Brownwood, Texas area until 1959 then moved with her husband, H.W. (Fred) Holland and their two sons to Abilene. In Abilene, Flo was a member of the Brook Hollow Christian Church. In 1972, Flo and Fred moved to Tuscola, TX where Fred assumed the position of Post Master. Following Fred's death in 1972, Flo remained in Tuscola for five years and served as the first female Mayor in Taylor County. Flo was married to Felton Severance from 1976 until his passing in 1988 and to Gordon Boatright from 1990 until his death in 2009. In 2012 Flo moved to Jacksonville. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law: Garay Holland of Bee Branch, AR; and Jerald (Jerry) and Joan Holland of Jacksonville. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, many beloved nieces and nephews; and other Perkins, Holland and Boatright family members.

A private ceremony for immediate family will be held at the Tuscola TX Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Flo requested that donations may be made to your local Democratic Party, the Brookhollow Christian Church in Abilene, or to the Tuscola, TX Cemetery Fund.
