Virgil Ray Landers
Weatherford, OK - Virgil Ray Landers, of Weatherford, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord on Friday May 14, 2021 at the age of 74. Virgil was born in Carnegie, Oklahoma on January 13, 1947 to Montana Bailey (Mont) and Etta Mae Landers. He graduated high school from Alfalfa, Oklahoma in 1965. After graduation, he joined the Army Reserves.
Virgil married Freda Hacker on December 3, 1966 at the Holiness Pentecostal Church in Carnegie, Oklahoma. He worked as a welder at Graves Welding Manufacturing in Clinton, Oklahoma for 18 years. Virgil moved and settled his family in Carnegie, Oklahoma where he was an independent welder until 1992, then Virgil made a career change and became a truck driver. He was a truck driver for 25 years, until he retired in 2017. Up until his death, Virgil enjoyed having annual 4th of July family reunions with his numerous nieces, nephews, and friends he loved like family.
Virgil is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings; Edward Doyle (Pete) Landers, Anna Belle Ervin, Nova Maxine (Toots) Cost, Jefferson Steven (Jeff) Landers, Tommie Lee (Tom) Landers, Fernie Odessa Tilley, Retha Faye (Johnnie) Flu, and Marjorie Ella (Eva) Powell; his son, Kyle Ray; and grandson, Gene Ray.
Virgil is survived by one living sibling, Jean Bonita Kitchko. Virgil also leaves behind his wife of 54 years, his 6 children; Larry Hacker, his wife Diane and their children, Justin Hacker, Lanita Toelle, Derrick Hacker, and Whitney Hacker; Allen Landers and his daughter, Randee Hawkins; Brenda Hardy, her husband Chris and their children, Brandon Landers and Lara Hubbard; June James, her husband Blaise and their children, Shaina Post, Sheldon Post, Amanda Post, Savannah James, Eden James, and Jaeden James; Augustine Becktold, her husband Duane and their children, Malissa Karnes, Kassidy Karnes, Regan Karnes, Kriston Karnes, and Kalyann Karnes; Bailey Landers, his wife Nelda and their daughter Whitine McDowell; and 19 great grandchildren.
Services for Virgil will be held at Alfalfa Baptist Church in Alfalfa, Oklahoma on June 12th at 10am with Guy Landers officiating, graveside services to follow at the Albert/Oney Cemetery.
