Donnetta Kay Oakley Shelton passed from this life on June 13, 2021 after a sudden illness at her home at he age of 62 years and 11 months.
She was born July 24, 1958 in Brownwood the daughter of Donald and Zelda Oakley. She attended Brownwood schools graduating in 1976. In 1980 she graduated from Southwest State in San Marcos with a B.S. degree in art. She taught all levels of art in Brookesmith. Later she taught theater art at Brownwood High School until her retirement.
She was active in the community volunteering at the Lyric Theater and the Public Library. She participated in Painting with Friends with Jeremy Serensa. She was a long-time member of Coggin Ave. Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Oakley and a long-time partner, Ray Parsons.
She is survived by her mother, Zelda Oakley of Brownwood, son, Jacob Shelton of Los Angeles, California, her step-daughter, Felicia Shelton Robertson and many other relatives and close friends.
Cremation services were entrusted to the care of Heritage Funeral Home, Davis-Morris Chapel in Brownwood and she will later be interred in Eastlawn Memorial Park near her father.
