Jerry Dean VanDerPol was born August 24, 1949, in Montevideo, Minnesota to Jake and Irene (Ulferts) VanDerPol and passed away Friday, July 30, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Jerry was raised and attended school in Clara City, Minnesota where he graduated from high school in 1967. He soon enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served for 6 years. On July 3, 1976 he married Cheryl Marthaler in Sauk Centre, Minnesota and they made their home in Weatherford, Oklahoma where they raised their family together. The family moved to Brownwood, Texas for 12 years before returning to Weatherford. Jerry ran "Ol' Jer's Service" in Weatherford and Brownwood for over 30 years, before retiring in 2012.

Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family, going to Foss Lake, renovating houses, drinking coffee at Jerry's, and Sunday afternoon drives exploring Oklahoma with his sons. He was an avid purveyor of exceptional Dad Jokes, never meeting one he didn't like. Jerry loved helping others through service and spent many years as a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Eugene Chapter of the St. Vincent de Paul Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Cheryl VanDerPol of the home in Weatherford; three sons, Justin VanDerPol of Weatherford, Matthew VanDerPol and wife Kathryn of Fort Smith, AR, Michael VanDerPol and wife Kristin of Loxley, AL; one brother, Jim VanDerPol and wife LeeAnn of Kerkhoven, MN; two sisters, Carol Thomton and husband Ron of Clara City, MN; and Terry VanDerPol of Granite Falls, MN; and four grandchildren, Brayden, Katelyn, Zed, and Wyatt Anne.
