Brownwood - Nell Langford Bishop, age 89, of Brownwood, Texas, passed away on September 8, 2021, at Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 13, 2021, at Eastlawn Memorial Park, and a visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. on September 12 2021, at Heartland Funeral Home.
Nell was born on March 1, 1932, in Mills County, Texas, to Ernest Langford and Margaret Geddes Langford. She was raised in Brownwood, and later in life, graduated from Howard Payne University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. On Oct. 16, 1950, she married Bill C. Bishop in Brownwood and began a life together that blessed them with two children. She retired from the Texas Youth Commission after holding several positions of increasing responsibility. Nell was a member of the Austin Avenue Church of Christ, and she loved the outdoors, traveling, tennis, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons, Billy J. Bishop and wife Sandra of Early, and Brian L. Bishop of Washington D.C.; grandchildren, Mace Royston and wife Amanda, Fayenell Royston, Beau Bishop, Bly Bishop and wife Jodi, and Jennifer Stephens and husband Blake; great-grandchildren, Brady Hays, Joe Tatum, Bailey Bishop, Zochi Paul and husband Robert, Brook Stephens and husband Joby Morgan, Hunter Stephens, Olivia Royston, and Mace Royston; and great-grandchildren, Maya, Sophia, Andrew, and Baer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and one sister.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and concern for the wellbeing of everyone in attendance, the family respectfully asks that masks be worn to the viewing and graveside service.
