Rockwall - Dorothy Ann Young nee Smith was born in Dec 1938 to Joe J. and Lavora Smith in Brown County Texas. She passed peacefully October 20th 2021 in the company of her son Barry at Baylor Scott and White hospital in Rowlett Texas. A visitation and viewing will be held at Heartland Funeral Home in Early TX on Wed October 27th from 12:00-1:30PM followed by a graveside service at 2:30pm at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in May TX.

As a High School Senior at May Texas Dorothy was voted Class Favorite and Football Sweetheart. She married Terry Young in 1957. They raised three sons, moving often, spending eight years in Germany with Terry serving nearly 3 years in Vietnam during his 20 years of service. The family eventually settled in Gatesville TX where Terry retired from the Army at Ft. Hood. In Gatesville Dorothy was very active in her church and owned an H&R Block tax office in

Hamilton operating there for several years. Dorothy loved music and had a wonderful singing voice. She was kind and generous and loved her family deeply. She is survived by her brother, Jerome Smith of Brown county, sons Rob of San Francisco CA, Barry of Rockwall TX, and Todd of Alexandria VA, along with six grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
