Gavina Aguinaga, age 90 passed from this life on Monday, July 13, 2020.
Gavina was born on Friday, October 25, 1929 in Gonzales, Texas to Eustacio and Isidora Quintero. She married Pedro Aguinaga on March 24, 1949 and began a life together that blessed them with seven children. Mom’s life revolved around her family & flowers. She enjoyed having her house full of family. We loved to see the smile on her face as we pulled the bingo cards out, got the barbeque going and laughter filling the house. She had the phone ready to call other siblings to let them know the others were on their way with something to eat. Mom always had something to offer a guest, and even if you replied, “No thank you”, she was sure enough getting you a plate or coffee ready. It would never fail, when you left her house, you would leave with a “goody bag”. She was a sharp shooter who didn’t let anything slip by her. Being honest was her way of showing she cared. She loved everyone in her family and hoped everyone would live a joyful life. Gavina was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brownwood.
She was always out tending to her flowers, and she took pride in them. She could grow anything from a seed or cutting, and had an amazing green thumb, and was always wanting to share it.
She will be deeply missed by all who loved her, rest in peace.
Gavina is survived by her beloved husband Pedro Aguinaga of Brownwood; two sons, Jesus Aguinaga and wife Isabel, Raul Aguinaga and wife Raquel; five daughters, Rosa Mares and husband Francisco, Maria Reyes, Victoria DelaTorre and husband Luis, Yolanda Moreno and husband Jose all of Brownwood, Texas and Dora Ramirez and husband Daniel of Poteet, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and 43 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Eustacio and Isidora Quintero; 4 sisters, Francesca, Petra, Anita and Concepcion; 2 grandsons, Rodolfo Reyes Jr. and Francisco Reyes; and great-grandson Dakota Mares.
