Patsy 'Pat' Jean Riley

Patsy “Pat” Jean Riley, of Brownwood, passed away on Thursday, January 7th, 2021, at the age of 81 in Temple, Texas. She fought a long and brave battle with multiple myeloma and passed due to complications of COVID-19.

Patsy “Pat” Jean (Franklin) Riley was born on March the 28th, 1939, in Munday, Texas to Marshall and Era Franklin. Her family moved to Mexia where Pat received her education. As a teenager she worked at the local drug store soda fountain. It was here that Glynn first saw Pat and told his cousin that he was going to marry that girl. After many trips to the soda fountain and many cherry cokes, Pat finally accepted a date with Glynn. They were married September the 8th, 1956, and recently celebrated their 63rd anniversary. In 1960 they were blessed with the birth of their son, David.

After Glynn's job assignment to Brownwood, Pat continued her career at Southern Savings and later at Olney Savings and Loan. Her friendly greeting and outgoing personality will be fondly remembered by her customers and coworkers.

After retiring, Pat was a member of the 'Twisters' line-dance group. They entertained at many civic organizations and nursing homes where Pat always had a big smile and warm handshake. Later, she joined the 'Life Liners' line-dance group and enjoyed many years of fellowship and friendship. Pat also enjoyed playing Bridge at the Senior Citizen's Center, line-dancing across the ocean on cruises with friends, a competitive game of 42, and shopping - especially for bargains.

Pat was a very spiritual woman and believed deeply in the word of God. She often read her Bible, which gave her great comfort. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

Nothing was more important than spending time with her family. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was very proud of her son and grandson and their accomplishments. Glynn often said that "I made the living, and she made my life worth living."

Pat was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers; and 4 sisters.

She is survived by her husband Glynn Riley of Brownwood; son, David Riley and wife Tracy of Rockwall; grandson, Christopher Riley and wife Tiffany of Dallas; sister, Martha Perkins and husband Jack of Houston; many loving nieces and nephews; and also by special friend, Donna, who will forever cherish the many memories and experiences they shared.

A Private Family Service was held on Saturday, January 9th, 2021, where she was laid to rest at the Wortham Cemetery in Mexia, Texas. Services were under the direction of Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home in Mexia. Online condolences for the family can be left at www.blair-stubbs.com.
