Citizens of Brown County,

I am sure most of you have heard about some of the problems at the Corinne T. Smith Animal Center. A group led by Debra and Bob Dixon have taken over the board of directors and appointed themselves officers and are running the shelter as they see fit, regardless of the by-laws, financial responsibilities, or the wishes of the community. They basically have hijacked the CTSAC from you, the citizens of Brown County.

Some of their probable questionable activities are as follows: will not take animals from the public; have hired unqualified personnel, some of which have criminal records; are not using correct operations and cleaning procedures; paying volunteers for travel; hiring and firing employees without due process; spending your donations on things not related to the care of animals; and the list goes on and on.

Those of you who care about the animals and the Corinne T. Smith Animal Center need to make your opinion heard. Talk to your city councilman, the mayor, the county commissioners, the county judge, the district attorney and the donors need to ask how their money is being spent.

Also, you must confront these people and demand that they leave and return the CTSAC to a proper board that represents you, the Citizens of Brown County. The next board meeting is at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24 at the shelter. Everyone be there and make this day the Take Back Corinne T. Smith Animal Center Day.

Also, I have just heard that somehow they have changed the signatures on the bank accounts and now have access to all the funds that the donors to CTSAC have given. There are probably not any safeguards in place to protect these funds. Now what?

Please help,

Jeff B. Smith
