To the editor:
Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) is a program that provides services to children ages 0-3 who have medical diagnoses and/or developmental delays. There is an ECI program for every county in the state and in this area, the ECI office is in Brownwood and covers seven counties including Brown, Coleman, Comanche, Eastland, Mills, McCulloch and San Saba. ECI services for children include Case Management, Educational Services, Nursing, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Nutrition, and Parent Training. Funding for ECI is obtained through the Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services as well as Federal and local resources.
Each year, as early as October, we begin the process of raising money for the ECI Christmas party. Our goal is to have a gift for each child, which is presented by Santa at the party. Fortunately, we live and work in communities with businesses and organizations that are more than willing to help out! Once again, the businesses and organizations in the counties served have shown their generosity and support through their donations. ECI is very aware of the many needs of various organizations such as ourselves throughout our seven-county service area and we are very grateful that the great folks listed below see the value in our program and are there for us year after year.
So here is a huge “thank you” to the following: Brown County ARC, Pediatrics of Brownwood, Kyle Kirkland, DDS (Brownwood), First Coleman National Bank, Coleman County State Bank, Goodson Insurance (Comanche), Mid-Tex Federal Credit Union (Brownwood), Citizens National Bank (Brownwood), Brownwood JDS, Inc. (Jerry’s Burgers), Pecan Valley Kiwanis (Early), and Early Lions Club. Also a special thank you to the Austin Avenue Church of Christ in Brownwood for allowing us to use their Family Life Center for the party.
