It seems that summer has hardly gotten under way, so it sounds premature to be thinking about things like football season, back-to-school and the Brownwood Reunion Celebration. But all of that is actually just around the corner.
The announcement Tuesday that a new event - competitve horseshoe pitching - has been added to the Reunionís extensive lineup of activities is a reminder that the eighth annual celebration is just two months from this week.
But before any of that can happen, football season, and high school football season in particular, will have opened. The first games are scheduled for the last weekend in August, just a few days after most school districts will have started class.
Itís almost too late to be planning summer outings at the middle of July, but thereís still time - especially if those outings involve activities closer to home like a weekend at Lake Brownwood. With the start-up of schools and other events timed to the school year, the weeks remaing to take advantage of summer are slipping by quickly.
