Santa is coming to town
Santa is coming to the Carnegie Library! Yes, Santa Clause is coming to story-time on December 19, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at the Library to sing carols, tell Christmas stories and take pictures. All are welcome, but please give the Library a call if you are coming, so Santa will have an idea of how many he will see. Parents and Grandparents remember to bring your cameras as Santa will stay and take pictures after the program. If you have any questions or to sign up your child, please call Kenna at 365-3616.
Alzheimer's Support Group monthly meeting
Central Texas Nursing and Rehab will be having its monthly Alzheimer's Support Group on Tuesday, December 13, at 6:30 p.m. Guest speaker Jeff Dohrse, LMSW will present the topic "Care giver troubleshooting." All concerned citizens are invited, refreshments will be served. This is a free public service.
Caring Hearts meeting
Caring Hearts Club, family group of Central Texas Nursing and Rehab will meet Monday December 12, 2011 at 7 p.m. at the Nursing Home. Chicken Spaghetti will be served.
The Bearcat Band will present their annual Christmas Concert on Tuesday, December 13 at 7 p.m. The Christmas Concert will be held at First Baptist Church. The program will include several Christmas favorites such as "O Christmas Tree" and "Carol of the Drum." The Ballinger Choral Program, directed by Dale Ellis, will also be in attendance for a joint piece entitled, "Homeward Bound." This will feature choir students from Fifth through 12th grades accompanied by the Bearcat Band. We will close with a Christmas Carol Sing-Along. Everyone is invited to this free concert in celebration of the Christmas Season. Join us after the concert for cookies and punch.
Open House at First National Bank
The First National Bank will host its annual Christmas Open House on Friday, Dec. 16. Refreshments will be served.

The First United Methodist Church Youth will have a Living Nativity on Wednesday, December 14
from 6 - 8 p.m. COME AND SEE!
Our Lady of Guadalupe feast
Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe for the cluster parishes of St. Thomas, St. Boniface and St. Joseph will be on December 12, 2011 at St. Joseph's Parish in Rowena. A rosary novena will begin nightly on December 3, 2011 at St. Thomas Parish in Miles with practicing of the Maņanitas following each evening of the novena.
Las Maņanitas will be at 6 a.m. on December 12 at St. Joseph in Rowena. Mass will be celebrated at 6 p.m. on Rowena followed by dinner at the parish hall consisting of all types of Mexican delicacies. Everyone is invited to share in this celebration.

Texas Department of State Health Services will be holding an immunization clinic in Ballinger on Thursday, December 8, from 10 a.m.-12 noon and 1:30-3 p.m. at 608 Strong (behind the Courthouse)

BHS prepares for 2012 Fine Art Extravaganza
The 2012 BHS Fine Art Extravaganza is underway with preliminary plans and ideas. A lighting theme will be presented in May and so the art department is looking for donations of lamps. Lamps of all kinds are wanted. Table lamps, floor lamps, chandeliers, and anything that can light up an area will be used. Items can be dropped off at the high school, or can be picked up by calling Mrs. Chapman at 365-1212, or 365-7500 ext 5034.
Runnels Co. RSE meetings
The Runnels Co. Retired School Employees meet at the First United Methodist Church, the second Tuesday of the month at 9:45 a.m. On Tuesday, January 10, at FUMC, Massage Therapist Ashley Wiley will present the program; on February 14, 2012 Dist. XV President Nancy Byler will present the program at the Miles Citizen's State Bank; on April 10, 2012 UIL Students will be the program at the Winters ISD.
GED classes will be held at the Elementary from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.
You will need a current photo ID and your Social Security card to register. The classes are free.
