The fourth and final playoff seed from District 7-3A is at stake at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday as the Early Lady Horns host the Bangs Lady Dragons in a rematch of their Jan. 22 encounter.
Early’s 51-41 victory over Coleman on Feb. 2 set the stage for tonight’s winner take all match up as the Lady Horns (8-15, 1-6) halted a six-game skid.
Bangs (7-18, 1-6), meanwhile, is in the midst of a three-game drought since defeating Early, 38-35, at home in the first district meeting between the two squads.
In the Lady Dragons’ victory, Bangs erased a 14-4 deficit, using a 9-0 run to shave Early’s lead to one point at halftime. Knotted at 27 after three quarters, a three-point play by Taylor Malett midway through the fourth period put the Lady Dragons up for good, 32-29.
Raelee Francois led Bangs with 16 points followed by seven points from Michaela Light, six from Haley Pitts, five from Malett and four points from Torrey Miller.
For Early, Lauren Jesko poured in 16 points trailed by Jayslin King with 11, Ramsie Rodgers with six and Wytni Thompson with two points.
Tonight’s winner will face District 8-3A champion Clyde in the bi-district round of the playoffs.
Also Tuesday, the Early Longhorns welcome the Bangs Dragons in the back half of a doubleheader.
Early (11-11, 2-3), which currently sits in third place in the 7-3A standings, knocked off Bangs (7-16, 0-6) by a 61-49 count in the first meeting.
