ZEPHYR — Tuesday night, the Zephyr Lady Bulldogs captured the District 19-A girls basketball championship following an undefeated run through league play. The Lady Bulldogs clinched the district championship with a 43-28 home victory over Sidney.

The 2015-16 campaign marks the third year in a row Zephyr, under the direction of head coach DeAnn Perkins, has won the district championship without a blemish against league competition. The Lady Bulldogs captured bi-district titles during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons as well.

“It definitely feels different this year,” said Zephyr senior Haven Rogers. “We feel like we have grown as a team. We are really hoping to break the streak and win at area this year.”

The Lady Bulldogs have a bye in place of a bi-district game this season and will advance directly to the area championship round Feb. 19.

“I am very proud of our team,” Perkins said. “They have fought through a lot of adversity in the form of sickness and injuries. Hopefully we can get everybody well and make a good playoff run.”

The Zephyr Bulldogs are currently in third place in the district race. If Zephyr wins its game against Blanket on Friday, the Bulldogs will move into a tie for second in the 19-A race.
