MINERAL WELLS — Still fighting for their first District 4-4A soccer victory, the Brownwood Lady Lions were again denied Tuesday night as they dropped a 3-2 decision to the Mineral Wells Lady Rams.

Mineral Wells led 3-1 at halftime, opening the scoring with a corner kick before Tristan Escamilla pulled Brownwood even at the 15:38 mark following an assist from Khloe Tobien.

The Lady Rams regained a 2-1 edge with 7:24 left before halftime and scored on a penalty kick at the 3:10 mark.

The only goal in the second half belonged to Brownwood, as Escamilla again scored off an assist from Tobien.

The Lady Lions (9-8-1, 0-5) will wrap up regular season play at 6 p.m. Friday when they host Stephenville.

MINERAL WELLS — The Mineral Wells Rams avenged an earlier District 4-4A boys soccer loss to the Brownwood Lions and collected a 1-0 victory Tuesday night.

Mineral Wells tallied the game’s only goal in the final two minutes of regulation.

“We dominated the whole game,” said Lions head coach Blake Danaher. “They played a ball in from behind, we had some miscommunication and they finished a ball inside the box.”

The Lions (2-10-2, 1-4) will wrap up regular season play at 8 p.m. Friday when they host Stephenville.
