Lady Lions 4x800 relay comes in ninth

AUSTIN — Early’s Tuesdi Tidwell placed fifth out of 24 competitors in the high school girls Section B pole vault at the Texas Relays Saturday with a personal-best height of 12-2.

No one vaulted higher than 12-2, and Tidwell cleared the bar on her third attempt. Farmersville’s Chloe Waller and Gregory-Portland’s Riley Floerker both cleared on their first attempt while Cy Ranch’s Bailey Ashmore and San Antonio Brandeis’ Emily Mallett made it over on the second try.

Tidwell finished tied for second in the 3A girls pole vault at state last year with a best effort of 11-6. Both the UIL state meet and the Texas Relays are held at the Mike A. Myers Track and Field Stadium on the University of Texas campus.

The Brownwood Lady Lions 4x800 relay team of Jessica Romero, Julianne Hood, Izzy Lawrence and Kyra Young finished ninth out of 15 teams Saturday morning in high school girls Section 2 action during the Texas Relays.
