In their final action prior to the District 6-4A meet, the Brownwood Lady Lions placed second at the Stephenville Optimist Relays, while the Brownwood Relays came in fourth in Division II at the San Angelo Relays over the weekend.

In Stephenville, the Lady Lions generated 129 points, which trailed only the host Honeybees’ tally of 178.

In San Angelo, the Lions produced 74 points with left them behind Big Spring (131), Abilene Wylie (108) and Perryton (82).

The Lady Lions earned a dozen medals — four gold, six silver and a pair of bronze.

Winning their events were Tristan Escamilla in both the 100 meters (12.24) and 200 meters (25.35), Chyanne Ellett in the discus (109-7) and the 4x100 relay team of Jaycee Lenz, Madison Chesser, Escamilla and Lakyn Ratliff (49.86)

Finishing as runners-up were Ratliff in the 100 meters (12.76), Lenz in the triple jump (34-2), Amy Compean in the 300-meter hurdles (49.95), Kristen Fuentes in the shot put (37-4.25), McKenzie Cox in the high jump (5-4) and Kayla McFarden in the pole vault (9-6).

Placing third were Lenz in the 100-meter hurdles (16.53) and Alexis Larrea in the discus (101-1).

Coming in fourth were Compean in the 100-meter hurdles (16.72), Tori Burkett in the 3,200 meters (13:08.19) and Ashley Gomez in the pole vault (8-0).

Fuentes, in the discus (97-0), and Dominique Revada, in the triple jump (32-2), both placed fifth while Chesser was sixth in the high jump (4-8).

The Lions brought home a half dozen medals — four silver and two bronze.

Top Brownwood performances included second-place efforts from Connor Howard in the 100 meters (11.11), Braden Jetton in the 400 meters (22.59), Kirk Vickers in the triple jump (41-11.5) and the 4x200 relay of Howard, Chevy Robertson, Gavin Jefferson and Jetton (1:30.35).

Turning in third-place efforts were Vickers in the long jump (20-2) and the 4x100 relay team of Jefferson, Jetton, Rylee Gregory and Howard (44.16).

Robertson placed fourth in the 400 meters (22.83) while Nick Salazar was fifth in the high jump (6-0).

Placing sixth were Hayden Day in the discus (135-11) and the 4x400 relay team of Xavier Armenta, Cory Richardson, Eric Burns and Robertson (3:33.63).

The Lions and Lady Lions will compete at the 6-4A track and field meet April 11 and 13 in Stephenville.
