A pair of Howard Payne Lady Jackets received accolades as the all-American Southwest Conference softball team was revealed Monday.

Receiving second-team honors was senior pitcher Celese Tirres, while senior outfielder Gaby Muniz was chosen for the third team.

Celese led the Lady Jackets in every pitching category including innings (192.2) and strikeouts (82). Her innings pitched numbers, appearances (34) and starts (31) were best in the ASC, and she also finished fifth in the league in strikeouts and fourth in wins (14). Tirres recorded five or more strikeouts in a game seven times this season with a season-high seven strikeouts versus Concordia.

Muniz started all 38 games for the Lady Jackets, recording 28 hits with eight RBIs, two doubles and two triples. She was also 7 for 8 on stolen base attempts and had a .952 fielding percentage.

Superlative award winners in the ASC were Player of the Year Raven Rodriguez of UT-Tyler; Pitcher of the Year Kelsie Batten of UT-Tyler; Freshman of the Year Melissa Livermore of UT-Dallas; Newcomer of the Year Kaylee Prather of UT-Tyler; Co-Sportsmanship Athletes of the Year Rachel Gauspoh of LeTourneau and Isaura Rodriguez of Sul Ross; and Coaching Staff of the Year to UT-Tyler.

The Lady Jackets finished the season 16-22 overall and 13-20 in ASC action and missed the conference tournament.
