Lady Jackets play first four on the road, open home schedule Sept. 13

The third season of Howard Payne Lady Jackets volleyball under head coach Colleen Westfall begins Sept. 1, as the schedule for the upcoming season was recently revealed.

Howard Payne starts its campaign on the road against Huston-Tillotson on Sept. 1 then, after a week off, the Lady Jackets will compete in the Texas Lutheran tournament. HPU will battle Linfield College (Sept. 9) followed by matches with Lewis and Clark College and Schreiner (Sept. 10).

HPU opens its home schedule Sept. 13 with a visit from St. Mary’s University.

The American Southwest Conference slate starts with matches at Mary Hardin-Baylor (Sept. 16) and Concordia (Sept. 17) before the Lady Jackets venture to Marshall for ASC Crossover action against UT-Dallas (Sept. 23) and Belhaven (Sept. 24).

A string of four consecutive home matches follows against McMurry (Sept. 27), Hardin-Simmons (Sept. 29), Concordia (Oct. 7) and Mary Hardin-Baylor (Oct. 8).

The Lady Jackets then journey to Sul Ross (Oct. 11) before traveling to Richardson for the second ASC Crossover where HPU will face UT-Tyler, East Texas Baptist (Oct. 14) and LeTourneau (Oct. 15).

Sul Ross returns the trip to Howard Payne (Oct. 18) then the Lady Jackets close their ASC slate at McMurry (Oct. 21) and Hardin-Simmons (Oct. 22).

HPU is also slated to take part in the McMurry Halloween Tournament with contests against McMurry and Jarvis Christian (Oct. 28) the first day and Texas College and the University of Dallas (Oct. 29) the second.

The Lady Jackets improved by two games in Westfall’s second year, posting a 5-20 overall record (1-11 in American Southwest Conference action), after going 3-22 (1-15 in ASC action) in 2014.
