The Early LSU Tigers posted a 2-2 record at the Texas Teen-Age Baseball 12U state tournament this past week in Buffalo.
The Tigers defeated Mildred, 10-3, and Temple, 10-0, in elimination bracket action. Early dropped its tournament opener to Rogers, 4-2, and was ousted by the Brownwood D’backs in its fourth game.
In the Tigers’ win over Mildred, Brenen Thompson homered, singled twice and scored three runs; Bradly Roman singled and scored; Rylie Hill homered, singled, walked and crossed the plate three times; and Tyson Tyler recorded two home runs, a double and scored on three occasions.
In Early’s victory over Temple, Thompson singled twice and scored twice; Jeremy Brown doubled, singled and scored a run; Roman hit a pair of home runs; Hill homered, singled and scored twice; Tyler belted two homers; and Ryan Jenkins singled and scored.
The D’backs opened the 12U state tournament with a win over Rusk followed by a loss to Bosqueville. After eliminating Early, the D’backs lost the rematch to Rusk as their season ended.
In TTAB 14U state tournament action in Hillsboro, the Brownwood Marlins defeated Van, 11-2, in their first game and Troy, 7-6, in their second, but lost to eventual champion Axtell to fall into the elimination bracket, where they were knocked out by Hillsboro.
At the TTAB 10U state tournament in Temple, the Early Hurricanes dropped their first two games to Mildred and Chandler.
