HAWLEY — The Bangs Dragons were unable to duplicate their season-opening victory as the Hawley Bearcats rolled to a 56-7 triumph Friday night.

Coming off a 34-6 win over Early in which the Dragons (1-1) tallied the first five touchdowns, Bangs yielded 20 points before lighting up the scoreboard for the only time in the second game of the season.

Hawley (2-0) quarterback Quay Stokes passed for 233 yards and six touchdowns, with three of the scoring tosses going to Saxon Jones, covering 4, 5 and 7 yards. Stokes also ran for 57 yards, while Shane Guerra caught a team-high six passes for 94 yards. The Bearcats finished with 457 yards of total offense.

Bangs generated 177 total yards — 96 through the air and 81 on the ground — and lost two fumbles, the only turnovers of the contest. Brian Sterling scored the Dragons’ touchdown on a 2-yard carry, while quarterback Colton Brewer led Bangs with 30 yards rushing, Brewer also completed 7 of 15 passes for 96 yards with Kevin Blaine hauling in four grabs for 79 yards.

Next week, Bangs will visit Winters (1-1), which lost to De Leon, 49-6, Friday night.
