With one minute, 31 seconds remaining in regulation, Derek Anderson scored off an assist from Tracer Moore, and the Howard Payne Yellow Jackets earned their first soccer victory of the season, 1-0, over Schreiner.
The Yellow Jackets improved to 1-6-1 overall with Tuesday’s win at Citizens National Bank Field, while Schreiner slipped to 2-10-1 overall.
Howard Payne attempted 15 shots with 11 on goal — five by Moore, three by Anderson and one each by Alex Sanchez, Collin Salyers and Anthony Chavez — before eventually finding the net.
Schreiner also fired 15 shots with seven on frame as Yellow Jacket goal keeper Nicholas Panameno played all 90 minutes and tallied six saves, while HPU as a team was credited with a seventh.
Howard Payne (0-3-1 in conference) resumes American Southwest Conference action at 7 p.m. Saturday when it visits UT-Dallas.
