EARLY — The Early Lady Horns were upended in four sets by Eastland, 25-21, 22-25, 25-14, 25-15 in District 6-3A volleyball action Saturday afternoon.
“The girls played really hard and had great runs of good points,” said Early head coach Mitzi Bell. “They continue to battle with every set. We just have to learn how to get a lead and keep it. We were ahead at some point in three out of the four sets. We had too many missed serves today which is difficult.”
Kacee Gober paced the Lady Horns with eight kills followed by five from Ellie Ryan, four from Trinity Tomlinson, three each from Jayslin King and Tuesdi Tidwell and one apiece from Hope Boswell, Gabby Constancia and Cylee Tyson.
King dished out nine assists, Tyson added eight, Ryan finished with two and Tomlinson tallied one.
Morgan Luckie served six aces while Tomlinson and Constancia added one each.
Defensively, Constancia collected eight digs followed by Tomlinson, King and Hallie Brinson with three apiece, Tyson with two and Tidwell, Luckie, Brilee Tabor and Holly Callaway with one apiece.
At the net, Gober finished with blocks, Tidwell and Ryan added two apiece and Tomlinson and King chipped in one each.
Next up for the Lady Horns (9-19, 1-6) is a 6 p.m. Tuesday road trip to Bangs.
“Our motto has been it doesn’t matter how we started, it matters how we finish,” Bell said. “So we want to finish the season strong, playing hard.”
