ABILENE — The Brownwood Lady Lions are headed into the playoffs as the second seed from District 5-4A following Tuesday night’s four-set loss to district champion Abilene Wylie in the regular season finale.

Brownwood’s 25-19, 25-20, 17-25, 25-14 loss to Wylie snapped a three-game win streak for the Lady Lions (20-17, 6-2), who could have earned a share of the district championship with a victory.

The Lady Lions are scheduled to face District 6-3A third seed Vernon Tuesday night in Breckenridge in the bi-district round of the playoffs. A time had not been determined as of press time. Brownwood will be seeking its first postseason victory since 2009.

Against Wylie Tuesday, Torrey Miller recorded 14 kills followed by Bailey Randle with six, Mikaela Smith with four, Ashlynn Patteson with two and Cheyenne Stroope, Kayla McFarden, Madi Gosch and Hadley Monroe with one apiece.

Monroe dished out 17 assists followed by Miller with eight and Tyra Cotton with three.

Miller served a pair of aces and Randle added one.

Defensively, McFarden notched 25 digs trailed by 14 from Miller, nine from Randle, seven from Monroe, five from Smith, four from Annie Gillispie, three from Aleyia Cotton, two from Stroope and one from Alex Fowler.

Smith collected six blocks, Miller added four and Randle, Stroope and Fowler contributed one apiece.
