The Brownwood JV Lions wrapped up an undefeated run to the District 3-4A Division I championship with a 68-16 victory over Snyder in Thursday's season finale at Gordon Wood Stadium.

The Lions completed district competition with a flawless 4-0 record, outscoring their opponents 224-22 and tallying at least 50 points in every contest.

The offense turned in a balanced effort of 225 rushing yards and 225 passing yards, while the defense forced three turnovers and scored once.

Offensive standouts included the line for paving the way to nearly 500 yards of total offense; Tommy Bowden (five explosive runs, 10-yard TD run, two-point conversion, four touchdown passes); Joseph Johnson (three explosive runs); Cain Kittrell (five explosive runs, a 5-yard TD, three two-point conversions), Grayson Swanzy (two explosive receptions, two-point conversion, 55-yard TD reception, 10-yard TD reception); Ian Moreno (one explosive reception, 25-yard TD reception); Ben Kallman (two-point conversion, explosive reception, 22-yard TD reception); Jared Cullins (explosive reception); Alvaro Villarreal (explosive reception); Tyrus Jones (6-yard TD run); Marshall Schmitz (explosive run); and Nikko Kamitches (two-point conversion run).

Leading the charge on defense were Kallman (tackle for loss, interception); Villarreal (two tackles for loss, fumble caused, fumble recovered, 40-yard TD on recovery); Moreno (double-digit tackles, fumble recovered, two tackles for loss); Jones (tackle for loss); Kamitches (big hit); Bowdy Boyd (tackle for loss); Dalton Sparks (tackle for loss); Tristan Buitron (tackle for loss); Austin Haynes (tackle for loss); Hayden McAfee (two tackles for loss); Ulysses Villarreal (tackle for loss); Justin Stanley (big hit); Grayson Stone (tackle for loss); Carlos Benetiz (tackle for loss); Riley Pruett (tackle for loss); and Marshall Schmitz (pass break up).

Special teams notables included Corbin Allgood (multiple tackles), Isaiah Torres (multiple tackles and a fumble recovery) and Zach Smith (several tackles).

Freshman Lions 39, Snyder 8

The Brownwood Freshman Lions concluded their campaign with a resounding 39-8 triumph over Snyder Thursday night.

The Lions led 16-0 after one quarter on a 3-yard Reece Rodgers touchdown run and two-point conversion, followed by a Brayden Bushnell 2-yard touchdown carry with a two-point pass from Rowdee Gregory to Isyah Campos. Brownwood's first touchdown set up by a Theo Bryant fumble recovery.

In the second period, Gregory connected with Bushnell on a 22-yard scoring toss, while Gregory hurled a 21-yard touchdown pass to Isaac Pena followed by a two-point pass to John Wilhelm as the Lions built a 30-0 halftime advantage.

Leading 30-8 after three quarters, Bushnell booted a 26-yard field goal in the fourth quarter for Brownwood, while Mason Ryden returned an interception 42 yards for a touchdown and the final points of the night.

The Freshman Maroon Lions posted a 7-2-1 overall record while the Freshman White Lions finished 7-0.
