Longhorns' rally comes up short; Dragons, Lady Dragons upended by Clyde

PRIDDY — The Early Lady Horns collected their 13th victory of the season in their final tune up before the start of District 6-3A action, knocking off the Priddy Lady Pirates, 52-26, Tuesday night.

Early led 15-6 after one quarter, 25-14 at halftime and 37-16 through three periods.

Jayslin King paced the Lady Horns with nine points followed by Makayla Deleon and Lauren Jesko with eight apiece, Hallie Tyler with seven, Kacee Gober and Hunter Coffee with six apiece, Ellie Ryan and Alexis Ray with five each and Shaunna Kay Connelly with two points.

The Lady Horns (13-9) host Bangs at 6 p.m. Friday.

Priddy 71, Longhorns 67

PRIDDY — The Early Longhorns were dealt their 10th loss of the season Tuesday night as the Class A Priddy Pirates held on for a 71-67 non-district victory.

The Longhorns (7-10) fell behind 18-11 after one quarter, trailed 36-26 at halftime and faced a 57-43 deficit heading into the fourth period, where Early tallied 24 points.

Ty Schafer finished with a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds for Early followed by Drew Sessler with 10 points and seven assists, Griffin Ehlers with nine points and five boards, Devyn Burns with eight points and three rebounds, Rowdy Elkins with seven points, Josh Graves with five and Jake Angerstein and John Giffin with four points apiece.

The Longhorns are slated to host Merkel Friday and Ballinger Tuesday before District 6-3A action begins at home against Coleman Jan. 13.

Clyde 47, Lady Dragons 15

BANGS — The Bangs Lady Dragons trailed by 11 at halftime, but Clyde pulled away in the second half for a 47-15 victory.

Trailing 21-10 at intermission, Bangs managed just five points in the second half.

Taylor Malett led the Lady Dragons with seven points while Kyra Smith chipped in six.

The Lady Dragons (3-16) kick off District 6-3A action at 6 p.m. Friday at Early.

Clyde 49, Dragons 47

BANGS — The Bangs Dragons came up short in their non-district home outing against Clyde Tuesday night, suffering a 49-47 defeat.

Bangs, which visits Rotan at 6:30 p.m. Friday, slipped to 6-11 on the season.
