DALLAS — Connor Hughes threw a two-hit shutout, walking none and striking out six as Sherman beat Bishop Lynch, 1-0, to split its games on the first day of the Dallas Jesuit Tournament.
Brayshon Savage was 2-for-3 with a triple and scored the only run in the bottom of the six while Blaine Bethel singled and scored and David Bedgood and Chace Fulton added hits for the Bearcats (4-3).
Sherman started the day with an 8-0 loss against Rockwall. Ethan Bedgood was 2-for-2, Jack LeCrone was 2-for-3 and Nick Blankenship walked.
Pilot Point-Gunter-Sanger Tournament
Holliday 7, Gunter 6 (6)
GUNTER — Bo Whitteker was 2-for-4 and scored twice in Gunter’s loss against Holliday on Thursday night.
Matt Hunter drove in two runs, Logan Nelson walked twice and Zach Lowe scored twice for the Tigers (3-3).
Gunter opened the tournament with an 8-1 win in six innings against Melissa. Bryson Jolly was 2-for-2 with a double, drove in a run and scored twice, Matt Hunter was 2-for-3 with a double, drove in a run and scored, Zach Lowe and Dillon Tinajero each drove in two runs and Trey Carr doubled and scattered five hits and struck out four.
Pilot Point 5, Boyd 3 (6)
PILOT POINT — Bryson Griffin was 2-for-3, drove in a run and scored as Pilot Point defeated Boyd at its tournament on Thursday.
Conner Lynch tripled and scored, Reagan Gochis singled, drove in a run and scored and Caden Koerbacher walked twice for the Bearcats (1-2-1).
Pilot Point started the day with an 8-8 tie in six innings against Grapevine’s junior varsity. Gage Rider was 2-for-3 with two RBI and scored Reid Riney was 2-for-2 and drove in a run and Griffin drove in a run and scored twice.
Allen JV 9, Melissa 4 (6)
GUNTER — Tate Whittington was 2-for-3 with a triple, drove in two runs and scored in Melissa’s loss against Allen’s junior varsity in the Pilot Point-Gunter Tournament on Thursday.
Brady Morrison and Krisjon Segleski each drove in runs for the Cardinals (2-6).
Melissa started the day with an 8-1 loss in six innings against Gunter. Jake Burrow doubled and drove in a run, Dalton Vestal singled and stole two bases and Adam Davis scored.
Bonham 10, Grapevine JV 6 (5)
PILOT POINT — Kade Trompler and Austin Simmerman each tripled and drove in two runs as Bonham defeated Grapevine’s junior varsity in the Pilot Point-Gunter-Sanger Tournament on Thursday.
Trevor Hartwell tripled, drove in a run and scored twice, Josh Easley doubled and drove in a run and Cody Easley scored twice for Bonham (2-2-1).
Prosper JV 10, Whitewright 4 (5)
SANGER — Neal Taylor was 2-for-3 with a triple and scored as Whitewright lost to Prosper’s junior varsity at the Pilot Point-Gunter-Sanger Tournament on Thursday.
Ryne Godbey was 2-for-3, Dylan Cordell doubled, drove in a run and scored for Whitewright (0-6).
Whitewright started the day with an 8-4 loss in five innings against Sanger. Cordell was 3-for-3 and scored, Payton Jones drove in two runs, Braden Ritchie was 2-for-3, Burke Hosier was 2-for-2 and drove in a run and Seth Williams doubled and scored.
Van Alstyne Tournament
Cedar Hill 9, Van Alstyne 2 (5)
VAN ALSTYNE — Tyler Wilson was 2-for-2 and drove in a run during Van Alstyne’s tournament loss to Cedar Hill on Thursday.
Chase Wilson singled and scored, Luke Hundt walked twice and scored and Hunter Hutchison drove in a run for Van Alstyne (3-1-1).
Pottsboro 11, Princeton 1 (4)
VAN ALSTYNE — Hayden Kent was 2-for-3 with a double, three RBI and scored as Pottsboro beat Princeton in the Van Alstyne Tournament.
Max Dodd was 3-for-3 with two doubles and drove in a run, Hunter Watson tripled, drove in three runs and scored, Hunter Flanagan and Jared Taylor each went 2-for-2 and scored twice and Myles Mitchusson drove in two runs and scored twice.
Anna 4, Dallas Sunset 3
VAN ALSTYNE — Daniel Scott was 2-for-2, walked twice, scored twice and drove in a run as Anna defeated Sunset in the Van Alstyne Tournament.
Zach Howard drove in two runs, Jacob Williams doubled and drove in a run and Colton Brown walked three times for the Coyotes (3-2-2).
Bells 4, Wolfe City 0 (4)
BELLS — Matthew Conner allowed three hits and struck out seven and scored twice as Bells beat Wolfe City in its tournament on Thursday.
Hunter Hawthorne was 2-for-2 with a double, two RBI and scored, Tuff Dowlen was 2-for-2 with a double and drove in a run and Stephen Hinds walked twice and scored for Bells (3-2-1)
Bells started its tournament with a 17-0 victory in three innings against Bonham’s junior varsity. Nate Stephens was 2-for-3 with three RBI and scored, Conner was 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs, Hawthorne was 2-for-2 with two doubles, drove in a run and scored three times, Eli Strickland was 2-for-2 with a double, drove in a run and scored twice and Dylan Hall was 2-for-2 with two RBI and scored twice.
Saint Jo Tournament
Savoy 11, Saint Jo 0 (4)
SAINT JO — Connor Sweet drove in three runs and threw a four-hit shutout as Savoy closed out the first day of the Saint Jo Tournament with a victory over the hosts on Thursday.
Lane Block was 2-for-3 with three RBI and scored twice, Devin Smith drove in three runs, Casey Colclasure was 2-for-2 and scored and Braeden Dillon, Patrik McCauley and Sam Dugger all scored twice for Savoy (2-4).
The Cardinals started the day with a 12-3 victory in five innings against Bryson. Dugger was 2-for-3, drove in a run and scored three times, Sweet was 2-for-4 with three RBI, Bobby Marshall doubled, drove in two runs and scored and McCauley scored three times.
