Luke, Marki Kinkade repeat as individual champs

COMANCHE — The Blanket Tigers and Lady Tigers secured District 19-A golf championships Monday at PAR Country Club in convincing fashion, as both teams will move on to Squaw Valley Golf Course in Glen Rose for the Region III-A tournament April 24-27.

The Kinkade siblings also repeated as individual champions with Luke carding a 75 for an 18-stroke victory on the boys side, while Marki posted a 76 to win the girls draw by 14 strokes.

As a team, the Lady Tigers finished with a 355 composite score as Emily Furry placed second overall with a round of 90, Cassie Furry came in third with a 94 and Kenzie Tidwell posted a 95.

The Tigers chalked up a 359 team score as Blake Hood and Trenten Verner both contributed 93s, Josh Schwab chipped in a 98 and Mark Lopez tallied a 114.

The Zephyr Bulldogs finished as the second-place team with a 557 composite score and will also advance to regionals. Kason King led the way with a 101 followed by a 107 from Bishop Norman, a 112 from Hadley Spieckerman, a 114 from Zack Miller and a 123 from Hunter Pitman.

The Zephyr Lady Bulldogs placed third with a 533, missing out a regional berth as Priddy finished with a second-place 508. Kensli Rockafellow will move on to regionals, however, with a 108 to qualify as a medalist. Aspen Williams added a 138 trailed by Trinity Thomas with a 140 and Alina Cozart with a 147.
