SNYDER — Led by a runner-up finish from defending Class 4A boys golf state champion Jaryn Pruitt, the Brownwood Lions placed second as a team at the two-day, 36-hole Snyder Invitational, which concluded Saturday.
Snyder won the team title with a 641 score following rounds of 320 and 321, trailed by Brownwood (333-323=656), Abilene Wylie (337-330=667), Sweetwater I (352-404=756), Big Spring (376-406=782), Levelland (380-414=794), Sweetwater II (423-447=870) and Abilene High (427-444=871).
Pruitt, a junior, opened with a round of 74 and followed with an even par 72 for a 146 composite score, four strokes behind Jake Leatherwood of host Snyder. Leatherwood carded a 6-under par 66 to open the tournament and followed with a round of 76 for a 142 total.
Also competing for the Lions were Caden Regan (82-82=164), Ben Kallman (90-85=175) and Jonathan Murray (87-84=171).
