The 44th annual Cherry Pie Auction, sponsored by KOXE/KBWD radio, raised approximately $15,500 for youth sports in Brown County on Saturday.

Proceeds from the auction, which was held at the Adams Street Community Center, will go to Brownwood Youth Softball and Youth Baseball, the Cen-Tex Soccer Association and Soccer 4 Fun.

“It was another huge success,” said KOXE radio personality Carl Wayne. “A lot of people came out to show their support for the youth of Brown County through their generous donations. From the donors to the bidders to the volunteers and everyone else who was a big part of it, a big heartfelt thank you. Lots of youth participating in Brown County sports will benefit from your generosity.”

Items up for bid included the traditional cherry pies and other baked goods as well as automotive goods and services, gift certificates, home decor, jewelry, oddities and sports memorabilia.

Sports memorabilia is always popular and this year’s crop of items included a Tom Herman Texas Longhorns-themed football; a Nolan Ryan Texas Rangers jersey; a “beautiful” Case Keenum Minnesota Vikings football; Dallas Cowboys items from Dez Bryant, Dak Prescott, Jason Witten, Tony Romo and Ezekiel Elliot; Texas Rangers items from Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez and Jim Sundberg; NASCAR items from Dale Earnhardt Jr.; and a cheese head signed by Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
