DUBLIN — The Bangs Dragons moved back over .500 in the District 6-3A baseball race, slipping past the Dublin Lions, 3-2, Monday.
Colton Brewer and Eli Carbajal combined to toss a no-hitter, allowing two unearned runs with 13 strikeouts, four walks and a pair of defensive errors.
Bangs (4-9, 2-1) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second, only to witness Dublin (2-9, 1-2) grab a 2-1 lead into the top of the third. The Dragons pulled even at 2 in the bottom of the fourth, then scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth.
In the sixth, Brewer singled with one out for the Dragons, then Zach Zink reached on an infield single ahead of a walk by Ethan Sanchez that loaded the bases. Brewer then scored on a passed ball during Carbajal's at-bat.
Bangs' first run in the second inning was the result of pinch-runner Justin Wilson scoring after Zink drew a walk.
The Dragons drew even in the fourth on Steven Montgomery's two-out RBI single that plated Wilson, again running after a Zink walk.
Zink, Brewer, Sanchez and Montgomery tallied Bangs' four hits.
The Dragons host district leader Brady (10-2, 2-0) at 7 p.m. Thursday.
