EARLY — The Early Longhorns are in sole possession of third place in the District 6-3A baseball standings following Friday night's 20-15 home victory over the Coleman Bluecats.

Trailing 7-3 heading to the bottom of the third inning, Early (7-8, 4-3) used a nine-run frame to seize control of the contest. Coleman (3-15, 0-7) closed the gap to 12-11 in the top of the fifth inning, but the Longhorns scored twice more in the bottom of the frame and added six runs in the sixth.

The Longhorns collected 10 hits and drew 14 walks as Jonathan Morales went 2-for-4 with a triple, three RBIs and three runs scored; Devyn Burns finished 3-for-3 with two RBIs, two walks and five runs scored; Boston Hudson was 1-for-4 with a double and three RBIs; Jesson Tarrant was 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and two runs scored; Chase Keilers was 1-for-2 with an RBI, three walks and three runs scored; and Rode Walters finished 1-for-1 with three walks and two runs scored.

On the mound, Brandon Lombrano worked three innings and allowed six runs — five earned — on five hits with six strikeouts and two walks. Ethan Portillo pitched 1.1 innings and yielded three runs on three walks and one strikeout. Tarrant saw 2.2 innings of action and gave up five runs — four earned — on six hits with three strikeouts and two walks.

Early will host Dublin (4-11, 3-4) at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
