EARLY — The Early Longhorns slipped back into a tie for third place with the Dublin Lions in the District 6-3A baseball standings, as Dublin tallied a 10-3 road victory Tuesday night.
Coming off a 20-15 victory over Coleman on Friday, the Longhorns (7-9, 4-4) didn’t score until their final at-bat, putting up three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Dublin (5-11, 4-4) used a five-run top of the second to seize control, then added two runs each in the fourth and fifth innings and one more in the seventh.
Early managed just five hits off Dublin’s Tim Teten, who struck out 11 and walked five over 6.1 innings to notch the win.
Brandon Lombrano, Ethan Portillo and Jesson Tarrant combined to yield 10 runs — five earned — on 11 hits with nine walks and two strikeouts for Early. The Longhorns also committed five errors.
At the plate, Jonathan Morales and Chase Keilers collected two hits apiece while Ryan Hill, Boston Hudson and Lombrano added one hit.
In the bottom of the seventh, Hill singled, Devyn Burns walked and Morales singled to load the bases with no outs. Keilers followed with an RBI single, Tarrant picked up an RBI on a based-loaded walk and Lombrano also walked to plate Early’s final run.
