TUSCOLA — The Early Longhorns and Lady Horns combined to earn 13 berths in the Region I-3A track and field meet, while the Bangs Dragons and Lady Dragons will compete in a combined nine events based on their performances at Wednesday's 5/6-3A area meet.
The Lady Horns, who finished third as a team with 97 points, led the charge with eight regional qualifiers.
Winning their events were Trinity Tomlinson in the 100-meter hurdles (15.37) and high jump (5-4), Ellie Ryan in the discus (108-0.5), Jensen Hutchins in the 100 meters (12.5), the 4x100 relay (50.25) and the 4x200 relay (1:48.03).
Haley Spieckerman was the runner-up in the long jump (16-2.25), while Emily Jillson came third in the triple jump (34-3.75).
Also contributing points to the Lady Horns' team tally were Ryan, who was fifth in the shot put (32-0.5), and Kenzie Poindexter, who was sixth in the 300-meter hurdles (51.95).
The Longhorns, who placed fifth with 64 points, will send five to regionals.
Ryan Hill won the 800 meters (2:02.8), while the 4x400 relay (3:30.44) also finished first.
Jeramiah Fowler was the runner-up in the 3200 meters (11:06.44), the 4x100 relay came in third (44.95) and a fourth-place effort belonged to David Shields in the 110-meter hurdles (16.1).
Also chipping in points were fifth-place finishers Fowler in the 1600 meters (4:56.87), Hill in the 400 meters (52.27) and Ethan Rhodes in the 300-meter hurdles (42.41).
Coming in sixth were Fowler in the 800 meters (2:16.45), Timmy Smithson in the 300-meter hurdles (43.07), Miguel Elizondo in the shot put (40-2), Devyn Burns in the 200 meters (23.46) and Carlos Moreno in the high jump (5-10).
Both the Dragons and Lady Dragons placed seventh as teams.
The Dragons generated 43 points and five regional berths as Colton Brewer was second in the triple jump (42-3.25), as was the 4x100 relay team (43.9). Placing fourth were Colton Martin in the 200 meters (23:31), Dawson Light in the 300-meter hurdles (42.35) and the 4x200 relay team (1:34.09).
Also picking up points for the Dragons were Brewer, who was fifth in the long jump (19-10), and Timothy Hall, who came in sixth in the 3200 meters (11:31.77).
The Lady Dragons, who garnered 30 points and four spots at regionals, received a silver-medal effort from Kayleah Hall in the 800 meters (2:32.55), bronze medal performances from Skylar Hutchins in both the 100 meters (12.99) and 200 meters (27.25), and the 4x400 relay came in fourth (4:20.32).
The Region I-3A track and field meet will take place at Abilene Christian University April 27-28.
