SAN ANTONIO — Early's Jake Angerstein, a three-time UIL state golf qualifier, finished fourth at the 36-hole Legends Junior Tour Alamo Shootout Monday and Tuesday at The Club at Sonterra.

Angerstein fired a 36-hole total of 147 — opening with an even par 72 and following with a 75 — in the Boys 15-18 division.

Angerstein finished six strokes behind tournament champion Hayes Hamilton of Kingwood (72-69=141). Holden Hamilton of Kingwood (71-73=144) was second, while Trent Tepera of Belton (75-70=145) came in third.

Conducted by the Legends Junior Tour, the Alamo Shootout is in its second year after a return from a five-year hiatus.

The tournament’s first round was scheduled for Monday and all players were on the golf course, but severe weather and torrential downpours forced the tournament committee to suspend play and restart Tuesday. Most competitors had at least nine holes still to play in their first round when play was suspended Monday afternoon.

The stoppage forced all players to finish their first round and complete their second round Tuesday. Play resumed at 8:30 a.m. and was continuous into the second round following the conclusion of the first round.
