EARLY — The victories continue to mount for the Early Lady Horns who won their sixth consecutive match and eighth in their last nine outings Saturday, a straight-set triumph over the Brady Lady Bulldogs.
The Lady Horns did not allow Brady to reach double figures in points in any set, rolling to a 25-6, 25-4, 25-9 win.
“As a program we are getting a feeling of not only beating our opponents but finishing the game in three sets,” said Early head coach Natalie Whitewood, whose team is now 15-11 on the season. “All of this confidence will drive over to the start of district and help us dominate our opponents. This was an outstanding effort and game with very few team errors, and that's what's setting us apart from our opponents. I'm beyond proud and blessed to have the opportunity to work with such amazing young ladies who are hungry for success.”
Early recorded 25 service aces — seven by Vance Cady Gordon, six by Taylor Summers, five by Emma Loven, three apiece by Trinity Tomlinson and Haley Spieckerman and one by Alexa Portillo.
Ellie Ryan, Tomlinson and Summers tallied three kills apiece trailed by Portillo, Kacee Gober and Kenzie Poindexter with two each and Gordon and Hope Boswell each with one.
Gordon dished out six assists, Summers chipped in four and Ryan was credited with one.
Defensively, Tomlinson's nine digs led the team followed by five each from Gordon and Portillo, three from Summers, two apiece from Ryan and Loven and one each by Spieckerman and Gober.
At the net, Gober racked up three blocks and Ryan contributed one.
Early hosts Lampasas at 6 p.m. Tuesday before District 6-3A action begins Friday when Hamilton visits.
