EARLY — The red-hot Early Lady Horns are charging into the District 6-3A portion of the schedule with another victory under their belts after sweeping Lampasas by a 25-18, 25-12, 25-22 count in Tuesday night's pre-district finale.

“We played hard, smart and with heart,” said Early head coach Natalie Whitewood, whose team stands at 16-11 heading into Friday's 4:30 p.m. league opener at home against Hamilton. “We never gave up and in every set there was a pushing point that we plowed through and never looked back. I am so happy for my girls and they are working so very hard for all their success. This was the game we needed heading into district — a bigger school and an even bigger win.”

Early's attack was sparked by Trinity Tomlinson, Hope Boswell and Ellie Ryan with four kills apiece followed by Kacee Gober and Tayor Summers with three apiece and Emma Loven with one.

Summers dished out eight assists followed by Vance-Cady Gordon with five and Tomlinson with a pair.

Haley Spieckerman served two aces and Tomlinson added one.

Defensively, Loven's 17 digs were the high-water mark trailed by 14 from Tomlinson, 11 from Alexa Portillo, six from Summers, four from Spieckerman, three from Ryan, two from Gordon and one each from Boswell, Gober and Kenzie Poindexter.

At the net, Ryan and Gober each chalked up two blocks.
