KERRVILLE — The Howard Payne Lady Jackets chalked up a second consecutive victory Wednesday night, earning a straight-set non-conference win over the Schreiner Lady Mountaineers.
On the heels of their sweep over LeTourneau in Saturday's finale at the second American Southwest Conference Crossover, Howard Payne dished out a 25-15, 25-16, 25-23 loss to Schreiner.
Howard Payne (4-19) was led by 11 kills from Zhartaezia Bradley, 10 from Kailey Doering, nine from Mya Ross, five from Kylie Metcalf, four from Madeleine Kelly and one each from McKenna Walker, Christian Wilson and Amaya Marshall.
Walker distributed 38 assists, Kylee Shirley tallied two and Metcalf was credited with one.
Marshall served three aces, Shirley contributed a pair and Ross and Bradley chipped in one each.
On the defensive end, Shirley logged 27 digs trailed by Doering with seven, Marshall with six, Ross and Wilson with four apiece, Bradley with three and Walker, Metcalf and Jada Terry with one each.
Metcalf and Marshall notched two blocks each and Doering and Bradley both finished with one.
Schreiner (2-22) received seven kills from Kylee Jo Scott, 11 assists from Alexis Coronado, one ace from Jessica Wheeler, 18 digs from Elora Reyes and two blocks from Amanda Combs.
The Lady Jackets wrap up ASC action at home this weekend against Concordia (14-9, 8-3) at 7 p.m. Friday and Mary Hardin-Baylor (20-2, 8-0) at 2 p.m. Saturday. HPU will then host Texas Lutheran at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23 and the University of the Southwest at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30 to conclude the season.
