LUBBOCK — The Brownwood Lady Lions will again be represented at the UIL Class 4A Cross Country State Championships as two runners qualified during Monday's Region I-4A meet at Mae Simmons Park.

The top four teams from each region, and top 10 runners not on a qualifying team, advance to state Saturday, Nov. 3 at Old Settler's Park in Round Rock.

While the Lady Lions finished sixth as a team, Darby Crysler (16th, 12.31.8) and Izzy Lawrence (29th, 12:37.1) placed seventh and eighth, respectively, among runners on non-qualifying teams to punch a ticket to Round Rock.

Also competiting for the Lady Lions in the field of 174 runners were Watts Jones (41st, 13:07.9), Audrey Boren (42nd, 13:08.5), Naysa Leach (45th, 13:14.4), Mia Sharp (55th, 13:20.9) and Alyssa Couey (79th, 13:45.8).

The Lady Lions generated 163 points, leaving left them one spot ahead of Stephenville (220) which snapped Brownwood's string of consecutive district titles at four during the 7-4A meet.

Canyon (33 points), Decatur (94), Hereford (102) and Andrews (121) will move on to state, while Argyle (140) finished fifth.

In Region I-4A boys action, Brownwood's Roman McKibben came in 70th out of 172 runners in a time of 17:54.3.

In the Region I-3A portion of the meet, Bangs Lady Dragon Kayleah Hall led the Brown County contingent with a 53rd-place time of 13:14.7 in the girls race.

On the boys side, Early's Jeramiah Fowler finished 91st in a time of 18:55.8, Bangs' Dawson Light came in 107th after being clocked at 19:15, and Early's Bryan Trowbridge ran a 20:38.3 which left him in 158th place.
