EARLY — The Early Lady Horns will head into the playoffs as the fourth seed out of District 6-3A following Tuesday's straight-set loss in the District 6-3A and regular season finale.

Following a 25-15, 25-22, 25-13 defeat at the hands of Dublin, Early will face District 5-3A champion Clyde in the bi-district round of the playoffs either Monday or Tuesday, according to Lady Horns' second-year head coach Natalie Whitewood.

As for Tuesday's loss to Dublin, Whitewood said, “We struggled tonight it areas that we haven't struggled before. Tonight was essentially a seeding game for the playoffs, win and we force a tiebreaker game with Dublin again. We played at times with fire and heart, my only regret is that it was Senior Night and a win at home would have been sweet. But we're going to be in three good hard days in at practice and find that Lady Horn team that has 21 wins and get that first gold ball in the playoffs. I am beyond blessed with these outstanding young ladies and we still haven't seen our best volleyball yet. It's not time to settle for OK.”

Against Dublin, Early (21-16, 5-5) received six kills each from Ellie Ryan and Kacee Gober, three from Hope Boswell, two from Trinity Tomlinson and one each from Vance Cady Gordon and Alexa Portillo.

Taylor Summers dished out seven assists and served Early's lone ace, while Gordon contributed six assists and Gober and Haley Spieckerman were credited with one each.

On the defensive end, Tomlinson led the charge with 14 digs trailed by 11 from Summers, 10 from Emma Loven, nine from Portillo, seven each from Gordon and Gober, six from Spieckerman, three from Kenzie Poindexter, two from Boswell and one from Ryan.

At the net, Ryan and Gober collected blocks.
