HAMILTON — In their first game of the Hamilton tournament Thursday morning, the Brownwood Lions snapped a five-game skid with a 60-54 overtime victory over Llano.
“We got a big lead and then they got very hot,” Lions third-year head coach Nadir Dalleh said of the contest. “They hit several threes after halftime that got them back in it real quick, and we struggled on our end. But we finished the game and that's what we haven't done lately.”
The Lions led 11-4 after one quarter, 25-11 at halftime and 38-30 through three periods, before Llano evened the score at 48 at the end of regulation. Brownwood then outscored Llano, 12-6, in the extra session.
Three Lions finished in double figures — A.J. McCarty with 18 points, John Wilhelm with 15 and Zach Strong with 12. Also contributing on offense were Isyah Campos with six points, Darrell Williams with four, George Nicholas with three and Ryan Riker with two points.
The Lions (4-6) will face Goldthwaite, which defeated Brady Thursday, at 5:30 p.m. Friday in tournament action.
