SAN ANGELO — Looking to continue their recent run of positive momentum, the Brownwood Lady Lions ventured to Class 6A San Angelo Central Friday night and were dealt a 46-33 defeat.
The Lady Lions (8-7), who had won four of their last five games prior to Friday night, owned a 10-8 advantage after one quarter. Central (11-5) rebounded to grab a 22-17 halftime advantage that grew to 39-24 after three quarters.
The Lady Lions shot 33 percent (11 of 33) from the floor, with four three-pointers, and knocked down 87 percent (7 of 8) of their free throws. But Brownwood committed 25 turnovers, while recording just 20 rebounds and nine steals.
Mallory Garcia led the Lady Lions with 16 points trailed by six from McKenzie Welker, three from Brooke Price and two points apiece from Lindsey Larose, Ryleigh Dalleh, Matyha Thompson and Kenya Barnes.
The Lady Lions will host Class 2A No. 4 Haskell (10-1) at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
