ROCHELLE — The Brookesmith Mustangs chalked up a 63-56 non-district victory over the Rochelle Hornets Tuesday night.

Brookesmith led 21-18 after one quarter, 37-23 at halftime and 52-34 through three periods.

Jonathan Willoughby led the Mustangs with 16 points followed by Mason Brumett and Avery Williford with 11 points each, Jeremaya Ibara with nine, Holden Bolt with eight, Cody Mazurek with six and Rusty Roberts with two points.

Lady Dragons 39

 

BANGS — The Bangs Lady Dragons were upended in their District 6-3A basketball opener by Dublin, 44-39, Tuesday night.

Bangs, which trailed 24-14 at halftime, converted 15 of 31 free throws, while Dublin was 14 of 20 from the line and sank five three-pointers.

Kayleah Hall finished with 11 points to pace the Lady Dragons.

 

Eastland 56,

Lady Horns 37

 

EASTLAND — The Early Longhorns were knocked off in their District 6-3A basketball opener by Eastland, 56-37, Tuesday night.

Early trailed 21-8 after one quarter, 35-19 at halftime and 46-24 through three periods.

Ellie Ryan led the Lady Horns with 13 points trailed by seven from Kacee Gober, six from Alexa Portillo, four each from Kailee Love and Taylor Summers and two points from Emily Jillson.

Jillson led Early with six rebounds followed by three each from Gober and Carrigan Norris. Portillo finished with four steals while Summers and Vance-Cady Gordon tallied two assists apiece.

 

Richland Springs 48,

Blanket Lady Tigers 44

 

BLANKET — The Blanket Lady Tigers dropped their District 18-A opener by a 48-44 count to the Richland Springs Lady Coyotes Tuesday night.

Tied at 15 after one quarter, Blanket (10-4, 0-1) led 26-22 at halftime and 38-33 through three frames, but was outscored 15-6 over the final eight minutes.

Priddy 66, Longhorns 51

 

EARLY — The Early Longhorns were derailed by the Class A No. 14 Priddy Pirates, 66-51, Tuesday night.

Leading scorers for the Longhorns were Ethan Mitchell and Timmy Smithson with 13 points each, Nathan Mitchell with 10, John Griffin with six, Brent Grooms with five, and Ty Schafter and Kiah Laborn with two points apiece.
