BURNET — The Brownwood Lions were handed their third consecutive defeat heading into the Christmas break, falling to the Burnet Bulldogs, 60-56, Friday afternoon.

The Lions trailed 14-6 after one quarter, 29-17 at halftime and 47-38 through three periods.

“We had 17 first-half turnovers which gave them the lead at the half.,” said Lions head coach Nadir Dalleh. “We switched some positions up in the second half and made a big run. It was just too much of a deficit to overcome.”

Isyah Campos led the Lions with 19 points trailed by 17 from Zach Strong, 12 from AJ McCarty, six from John Wilhelm and two points from George Nichols.

Burnet (8-5) was led by 26 points from Luke Kiser and 14 from Kam Ollison.

The Lions (7-9-) are back in action Thursday as they host the TexasBank Holiday Classic. Brownwood will face Rio Vista at 12:30 p.m. and San Saba at 5:50 p.m. at the Brownwood Coliseum on the opening day of the three-day event.
